ACE American Copy Equipment began operating in 1976. Originating in only a small office, ACE Copy Equipment had a track record of solid growth over the years. ACE initially marketed and serviced Sharp copiers and facsimile equipment. The RICOH product line was added in 1981. Also at that time, ACE Copy Equipment added the “Lifetime Guarantee”. This provided the ACE customer base with additional copier and facsimile service and performance benefits throughout the RICOH product line.
In December 1988, a most exciting event took place, as Point Group Inc. acquired ACE, and John E.J. Baron was appointed President. John brought positive leadership and more than fifteen years of experience in the office equipment industry.
On April 12, 1989, ACE Copy Equipment introduced the “Partnership Guarantees”. This brought to the office equipment marketplace the best possible set of circumstances available for the consumer of a copier or fax machine. The “Partnership Guarantees” incorporated the very successful “Lifetime Equipment Guarantee”, and much more! ACE Copy Equipment now had the resources, mechanisms and expertise to deliver that any customer has always wanted, “a partner to do all the work, a mutually rewarding business relationship that never ends”! In September 1989, ACE Copy Equipment became the “Exclusive Authorized Ricoh Dealer” in the Cleveland area. Very few dealerships in the United States ever get to earn the right to this exclusivity with Ricoh Corporation. ACE did in less than a year.
December has always been a good month for ACE. This was especially true in 1989, as ACE Copy Equipment acquired the entire Ricoh base from American Office Systems. This brought the Ricoh machine population to over 3,500 units. December also saw ACE Copy Equipment move from its old location at 5410 Warner Road to its new location at 9100 Bank Street, Valley View, Ohio. With its constant growth, ACE Copy Equipment again moved to a 33,000 square foot building located on 2.7 acres at 6599 Granger Road, Independence, Ohio.
December has been an extremely important month for ACE Copy Equipment. December of 1990 was no exception, as the “Partnership Commitment Guarantee” was added to the Partnership Guarantees. In addition, in December 1998, ACE entered into the Qualified Distribution Program of Hewlett-Packard, offering the Hewlett-Packard Mopier Network Copier line. ACE Business Solutions is centrally located in Independence, Ohio near the I-480/I-77 interchange. The 30,000 square foot free-standing building houses all sales, administration, service and warehouse operations as well as a spacious state-of-the-art product showroom for convenient viewing of the Ricoh and Hewlett-Packard product lines. And now serving Medina, Akron and Lorain from our Medina Location at 232 North Court Street.
Currently, ACE employs over 100 individuals who all share a common goal, complete customer satisfaction.
The ACE Service Department currently employs thirty-eight (38) technicians who are all Ricoh, Sharp and Hewlett Packard factory trained. Following manufacturer training, all technicians are required to perform a six-month in-house apprenticeship before graduating to field service. This assures customers that a competent professional will service their investment. The average tenure of the ACE Service Department is twelve years.
In 1999, ACE recognized the impact of the digital revolution upon its business and the needs of its clients. Consequently, the Advanced Technology Group Division was found. This group features skilled personnel certified and with experience in Microsoft NT, Microsoft Windows 2000, Microsoft Windows XP, Novell NetWare, Macintosh operating systems and IBM Mainframe community. In addition, the technicians and consultants in this group offer expertise in a wide range of topologies and protocols. When all of these specialties are combined with ACE’s traditional strengths in hard copy analysis and sizing, ACE is able to offer enterprise-level, electronic document management solutions. Regardless of the connectivity issue, ACE stands ready to assist our clients.
It is our belief that no other organization in Cleveland possesses technicians as competent and as professional as those employed in the ACE Service Department.
